Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve was spent at my Aunt’s house. As per tradition we had a yankee gift swap. This link is an especially lame introduction to the art. I made out with a very nice coin jar. Leather on the outside, lined with supple velvet on the inside it makes nary a peep as you deposit your change into it’s gaping maw. Color me happy.

Pictures

I’m back from break

It was a busy last few weeks, what with my dad visiting the hospital, me buying a new lens, Umphrey’s in Chicago for NYE, Christmas, etc. I should have lots of posts coming up, describing in detail everything that’s happened.

Also, unfortunately my picture server is down. I think the power in the building that houses the server was scheduled to go out today and it probably didn’t restart correctly. I’ll take a look at it when I go into campus tomorrow.

Present exchange

STJC and I exchange gifts.

Crab Cakes!

STJC and I made some crab cakes last night. Delicious, except I think I have a crab-cake hangover. I feel kinda sick and the thought of crab cakes makes me a little nauseous.

New pictures posted

Pictures from Brian Smith’s Christmas party and Stephanie and I making cookies. Check it!

I got my new camera

Purchased from my uncle. It’s an original Canon Digital Rebel, 6.3MP. I haven’t taken any good photos yet, so nothing to show.

ohh! now with sound!

I made a few changes to my music server and opened it up to everyone. It’s slow as crap so it’s only good for seeing what I’ve got in my collection…but poke around on there, let me know if you see anything you like. Oh…and I linked to it from the front page.

New splash page

Front Page
I’ve got a new splash page going, check it at www.nothing2fancy.com. Obviously designed with iWeb on a mac, but I did cut out the little “Made on a Mac” doohicky at the bottom. As always, let me know what you think.

Big changes coming soon

I’m starting to get the whole of my website in order. This blog is obviously located at www.nothing2fancy.com/blog. My new (fast server!) picture website is located at www.nothing2fancy.com/pictures. For those of you interested it’s an Apache webserver running PHP 5.2 on a Debian box. The sever is right next to my desk at work, so I’m not sure if I’m going to update the image gallery remotely from home or just put the images on a flash drive and take them in there the old fashioned way.

Currently when you go to nothing2fancy.com you are automatically redirected here. I’m going to get a splash page put up at the n2f.com address soon with links to pictures, blog and maybe something else, I’m not sure. I’m also going to make a valiant attempt to update this blog frequently so that family can use it to keep track of me. Finally (and this is going to involve the most work) I’ve spent a lot of time getting my picture galleries running, I’m planning on writing a very thorough walkthrough for what I had to do to get it working. Hopefully, thanks to the wonders of google, people will stumble upon that walkthrough and it won’t be as big a hassle for future OS X users to get their galleries up as it was for me.

A new format and a new purpose

So…I updated the formatting on my blog because the new Blogger-Beta functionality didn’t seem to be working (nothing changed…dude). I’m also going to make a concerted effort to post more often and post more details about what I’ve been up to so hopefully my friends and family will start using this website to keep track of what I’ve been up to. We’ll see how it goes.
