first backpacking trip of the season

Pictures from backpacking in George Washington National Forest are up on Alex’s site. We had a great weekend – spam, cognac, bear poop, bawdy French songs, that last killer hill in the cold rain.
We talked for a few minutes with a man who was in the middle of what he called “a 40-mile day,” obviously training for some sort of ultra. With the Cleveland half-marathon behind me (still sad I couldn’t run the full), I’m excited to get out in the woods to train for Jay. Giggity.
