Exciting news! My first iPhone app was approved for sale on the iTunes app store.
Go check it out, you can read more about it at basilapps.com or on the iTunes store.

Don’t worry. I’ll still remember all the old friends when I’m sipping Crystal on my yacht.

I’ve currently got three pairs of headphones, and fortunately they are all different enough that each one serves a pretty specific purpose.
Just got a pair of Grado S60s for a 2nd generation iPod Shuffle.

Love them. Crystal clear sound, but, like other reviewers have said, almost no sound isolation. Everyone can hear your music and you can hear everyone else. Best for listening at home.
Of course, I probably wouldn’t have gotten them at all if it wasn’t a trade since I’ve also got a pair of Sennheiser 280s.

Much more isolation, but the sound isn’t as full or clear. Also, they are a little tight, so if you’ve got a huge pumpkin-head, you’ll have to stretch these bad-boys out.
Oh, and if you’ve got a new Apple product, you can’t go wrong with these:

Yeah, they let you play/pause on any iPhone and let you adjust the volume on an iPhone 3GS… but did you know you can also play/pause/volume on newer MacBooks and iMacs? Yeah… they are also super isolating and sound pretty darn good. Don’t try to use them for long conversations, though. The isolation makes talking on them kind of weird.

I probably won’t be updating nothing2fancy.com every time I update jimkubicek.com, but I thought I’d make an exception this time.
Check it out!

I’ve got my first real portfolio hosted now, it was my submission to a solo art exhibit at the Richmond Public Library. I find out next weekend if I’ve been selected, so wish me luck. I’m not to worried about it. If I don’t make the cut, I just saved about $500 in printing and mounting… so you know, I’ve got that going for me.

My little part of the the show was a great success. I think roughly 1/3 of the guests who visited were with me, so good job guys! I know Stephanie had a great time, too.
In other news, I was approached by the library curator. She liked my work and suggested that I submit my portfolio for a solo show. I’ve got a little over 1 month to prepare, so I’m going to get right on that.

Seriously guys… Thanks for letting me know via email that I have a new bill, but it doesn’t do me much good if you don’t tell me what the bill is.

The best part is that their Bill View system is down, so logging in doesn’t do me any good, I still can’t find out how much the bill is. Thanks for nothing, guys.

Best Commercial of 2009?
I heartily support this kind of advertising. Mainly because being in the ad biz, I want to have the confidence to walk into a client meeting, and PITCH this with a straight face. Well done.

I have an old-ass Thinkpad with no hard drive which may or may not work. I decided to be generous, forgo trying to figure out exactly how much it was worth, and just give the thing away on Craigslist.
In addition to all the Craigslist retards asking how much I was selling it for (despite it being obvious that I was giving it away for free), I got Winston. Winston who creeps me the fuck out and makes me regret giving out my address in the listing*.

- I live in an apartment building, so I was in no danger of Winston finding me…. but still.

Ordered roughly in order of purchase.

My first iPod was a 40GB 3rd generation iPod. It served me well for about 3 years until it just wouldn’t hold a charge anymore. I wanted to use it as a firewire drive (modern iPods don’t work with firewire), but never really found the need for it. 40GB is too small to use as a backup drive and the form factor was too big to make it easy to carry around.
The nano was given to me when I started my current job. I never found a use for it.
The shuffle is out of order, it came before the nano. That’s the reason I never found a use for the nano. The shuffle was plenty big for even long rides and the form factor was absolutely perfect for listening to music while exercising. The screen really does me no good when I’m moving too fast to look at the screen.
The classic was purchased to replace my original iPod. I sprang for the 160GB model. To this day it can hold nearly every bit of music I own. Great for cycling through tracks I’ve never gotten around to listening to during long work days.
OG iPhone was purchased in January of 2008 with the intent of passing it along to Stephanie when the 3G phone came out.
The 3G iPhone is the greatest little bit of electronics I’ve ever owned. It’s amazing how quickly you get used to NEVER BEING BORED. No matter where I am, I’ve got internet/games/whatever.
